US gets it all wrong

The US is slapping sanctions on Thailand because the US government is unhappy with the military takeover of the kingdom.  Why? Is it because the streets of Bangkok are safe once again? Is the US government troubled that the army prevented a civil war from happening? Is the US somehow upset that, according to two recent polls, the majority of the people of Thailand are happy with the way things turned out?

Does the US possibly want more grenades thrown into protest crowds while they sleep peacefully and more drive-by shootings of little children? I doubt it very much.

But if not, then that leaves us in a quandary. Why impose sanctions on the people who have brought peace and safety back to Thailand.

The US must take a deeper look inside Thailand politics. The Western press needs to wake up and smell the hilltribe coffee.
