Prayuth officially appointed as 29th premier

 

Junta chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha on Monday is officially appointed as the 29th prime minister of Thailand.

In a ceremony at the army headquarter, Prayuth received a royal command appointing him to the top administration position. The appointment was announced in the Royal Gazette on Sunday.

In his first speech after the appointment, Prayuth asked the public to extend cooperation with the authorities to restore the democracy in the country.

He said he would submit his cabinet line-up for the royal approval within October.
